SKOHRboard's 2012 NFL Mock Draft Picks 60-63

It's NFL Draft Day! Tonight at 8pm the real draft kicks off so go enjoy it.  Before that though SKOHRboard is coming at ya with our final installment of the SKOHRboard & Friends 2012 NFL Mock draft.  Please let us know what you think of the picks, how our GMs have fared for each team and what you would have done in a similar position.  The full rundown of every pick from both rounds is below.

I'll be watching the draft tonight and tweeting about it so it you want in on that action make sure you follow me @SKOHR

Round 2 Pick 28 (60): Baltimore Ravens select Ronnell Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma
The Ravens worked to shore up their center position in the first round, and Ozzie Newsome has been pretty clear that his top priority is to improve the left guard position. That's great and all, but Ozzie isn't welcome in my war room. What the Ravens need is a hybrid linebacker that they can move all over the field and create matchup nightmares, just like they used to do with Adalius Thomas. Lewis had the best shuttle time and the best bench press results for his position at the Combine, so you know he is a great athlete. He played as a Mike, a Sam, and a rush defensive end in college; he played 8-man football in high school, lining up in the secondary, linebacker, and running back positions. Most importantly, he was productive in college, proving to have exceptional skills shedding blocks and finishing tackles. He is also a guy who can stay on the field all three downs. Sergio Kindle was supposed to be the answer at OLB after he fell to the Ravens, but when a talent like Lewis falls into your lap, you need to pull the trigger. - Justin!!!

Round 2 Pick 39 (61): San Fransisco Forty Niners select Chris Givens, WR, Wake Forest
The Niners have tried to address one of their biggest weaknesses from last season through free agancy by signing Randy Moss and Mario Manningham. But they need a long term answer at the position and Givens might be just that. He is an explosive player who plays as fast on the field as he runs on the track. Some scouts have described him as the best route runner in the class and a hidden gem. The Niners are hoping that to be the case. - Joe-l

Round 2 Pick 40 (62): New England Patriots select Trumaine Johnson, CB, Montana
Well, guess the Pats won't be taking Dennard at CB anymore. We considered both Mike Martin and Ben Jones at this spot, but figure to get other help at C and DT in the coming rounds. It is time to address the elephant in the room. The Patriots secondary needs some playmakers. We made selections to put pressure on the QB (with more selections coming), but now it is time to stop the ball when it does leave the QB's hands. Trumaine might not play in a prestigious conference, but he has ability greater than you can expect coming from the Big Sky. He is a little slow- which can get him burned on double moves- but his size (6'2", 200 lbs) and jumping ability (35 inches) should make him almost impossible to throw the goal line fade that teams seem to depend on. He has understandably dominated every receiver he has ever faced, but don't underestimate him just for playing in the FCS- he is NFL-ready. As a former receiver, he has strong hands that can easily pick the ball from the air. He is also a strong tackler, and matches up well in press coverage. He will need to develop his skills against top-notch receivers, so expect a bit of a learning curve for Trumaine. He should fit well in zone as well as man coverage. Given the Pats actions with last year's secondary, Trumaine could even find himself playing a few snaps at FS. Hopefully his skills develop quickly in practice against quick receivers like Brandon Lloyd and Wes Welker. - Jeremy

Round 2 Pick 41 (63): New York Giants select Vinny Curry, DE, Marshall
With Osi on his last year and Tuck not being able to stay healthy the Giants need some young talent to pair with JPP and add depth to their pass rush. Curry is a great pass rusher who can do a number of things on the field. The Giants are ecstatic to get him at this point. - Joe-l

SKOHRboard's 2012 NFL Mock Draft Picks 57-59

Round 2 Pick 57: Denver Broncos select Chris Polk, RB, Washington
The Broncos are in need of a RB with a 30 something runner leading their rushing attack. Polk has ideal size to carry the load for an NFL team. Polk is an all-around player who does many things at a high level and is capable of playing within a variety of schemes. He is quick off the ball and a natural runner between the tackles. He is an above average blocker and with a little coaching can become a true featured back. - Joe-l

Round 2 Pick 26 (58): Houstons Texans select Brian Quick, WR, Appalachian State
I know, I know, the Texans already took a receiver in the first round. Well, Andre Johnson is already in his 30s and keeps getting hurt, Kevin Walter is in his 30s and keeps being Kevin Walter, and Jacoby Jones hasn't shown much in the chances that he's gotten. A linebacker would be a good pick here (especially given the losses of Demeco Ryans and Mario Williams), but the Texans have a history of targeting a few positions each draft. I see them grabbing arguably two of the best receivers in the draft and then addressing linebackers/linemen the rest of the way out. Quick is a giant target, and he will be able to learn route-running from one of the best in the business. This would give the Texans three monster targets all over 6'3 in Johnson, Hill, and Quick. - Justin!!!

---Saints 2nd Round Pick is Forfieted---

Round 2 Pick 27 (59): Green Bay Packers select Josh Robinson, CB, Central Florida
Robinson really lit up the Combine this year and cornerback is one of the positions where that really matters. Guys can be as technically sound as they want but if they don't have the wheels to compete at the NFL level, it doesn't matter. As the fastest man in the 2012 NFL combine, Josh Robinson has the wheels to compete. He is also a smooth athlete with decent production despite a rather rough style. I think some better coaching and the benefit of playing alongside Charles Woodsen in Green Bay, this guy can turn into a very good NFL Corner. - SKOHR

Round 1
1 - Colts - Jim Mut - Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
2 - Redskins - Jeremy - Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor

SKOHRboard's 2012 NFL Mock Draft Picks 53-56

Look at that! Our next two picks know each other.

Round 2 Pick 21 (53): Cincinnati Bengals select Lamar Miller, RB, Miami
The Bengals will probably be looking heavily at CBs here but they need someone who can step in and play for them this year and there aren't any CBs left in this draft that I would trust that too. Instead I think they find much more value in a great RB here with Lamar Miller. He is fast and fearless. While he might be a little quick to bounce things outside he isn't afraid to cut back and take runs straight up the gut either. Miller can also catch it out of the backfield and will be a fantastic outlet receiver for Dalton. I expect them to find their CB through a trade or in free agency in the days before the draft. Maybe they could trade their 3rd Round pick for Asante? I think both sides would be happy with that deal. - SKOHR

Round 2 Pick 22 (54): Detroit Lions select Jayron Hosley, CB, Virginia Tech
The Lions achilles heel for the past few seasons has been their weak secondary.  They choose Hosley here in an attempt to fix that.  He has started in Virginia Tech's vaunted secondary for several years with solid production in each of them.  Hosley looks like he can be a consistent yet versatile defender at the next level with no glaring weaknesses. - Steve-O/SKOHR

Amini

Round 2 Pick 23 (55): Atlanta Falcons select Amini Silatolu, G/OT, Midwestern State
The Falcons don't have a lot of picks in this draft after selling out to get Julio Jones last year. What they do seem to have in abundance is a real need for offensive line help at multiple positions. As luck would have it, Silatolu can play multiple positions. He went to a small school, but that is only because he couldn't qualify academically. Some bad habits seem to be appearing on tape, but he has all the physical tools to succeed at either guard or tackle. His versatility makes him the pick over other guard prospects. - Justin!!!

Round 2 Pick 24 (56): Pittsburgh Steelers select Zebrie Sanders, OT, Florida State
The Steelers go into this draft with the same weakness they always enter the draft with: they need help along the offensive line. Injuries seem to deplete the offensive line every year, and tackle is a huge priority for protecting a quarterback that holds onto the ball for as long as Big Ben does. Sanders played both tackle positions at FSU, so it makes sense to target a guy like this given the fact that he might be inserted anywhere that a need should appear. - Jeremy

Round 1
1 - Colts - Jim Mut - Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
2 - Redskins - Jeremy - Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
3 - Vikings - Justin!!! - Matt Kalil, OT, USC

SKOHRboard's 2012 NFL Mock Draft Picks 49-52

Round 2 Pick 17 (49): San Diego Chargers select Dwayne Allen, TE, Clemson
Allen is arguably the best all-around tight end in this year's class. He's a better blocker than Stanford's Coby Fleener and has a knack for spectacular catches. Allen gets criticized for a lack of production, but that's more of a product of the Clemson spread offense. Antonio Gates has shown over recent seasons that he can't stay healthy. When he's been out, the Chargers haven't had a viable backup who can make a difference in the pass game. When he's healthy Allen can line up at TE and Gates can split out as a WR. Having both of these guys on the field together will give opposing safeties nightmares.

Round 2 Pick 18 (50) Chicago Bears select Zach Brown, LB, UNC
The Bears pick Brown to come in and start as their weak-side LB. Brown is a perfect fit in the Bears 4-3 cover 2 scheme. Brown can play all 3 downs exhibiting decent cover skills and can close in space. Bears are excited to pick their LB of the future to learn from the legends already on the roster.

Round 2 Pick 19 (51): Philadelphia Eagles select Brandon Boykin, CB, Georgia
The Eagles are very excited to welcome Brandon Boykin to the squad. His experience playing in the slot against SEC competition will be a huge asset as he'll give the Eagles the freedom to move their star CBs around as they see fit. He is also a prolific return man, which has been a huge position of need for the Eagles in the recent past. There is a very good chance that the Eagles look to move Asante Samuel before the draft which means that Rogers-Cromartie and Asomugha can play the outside as Boykin/Hanson rotate in the slot.

Round 2 pick 20 (52) Tennessee Titans select Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson
The Titans were heart broken that country music star Zach Brown went just 2 picks before them to the Chicago Bears. Instead of adding a sure thing LB, the Titans decided to add the 311 lb Thompson to help a defense that finished 24th against the run last season. Thompson can be a disruptive force at the line of scrimmage. He has the ability to bust through the line and cause havoc in the run game. He has a low center of gravity, which really helps him get under some of the bigger offensive lineman. He is a force on run downs and also can generate a good bull rush at times. If it weren't for his questionable pass rush, he would have gone much earlier in the draft.

SKOHRboard's 2012 NFL Mock Draft Picks 45-48

Round 2 Pick 13 (45): Dallas Cowboys select Harrison Smith, S, Notre Dame
The Cowboys continue to focus on improving their secondary in this draft, this time targeting the best safety remaining in what is a pretty weak class after Barron. Smith edges out Markelle Martin here, but either one is going to be a vast improvement over the guys that started last year for the Cowboys. He's also regarded as a high-character guy in the locker room, something that Dallas surely needs. - Justin!!!

Coby!
Round 2 Pick 14 (46): Philadelphia Eagles select Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford
This one is going to make a lot of people happy in Eagles country. Fleener is easily the class of this year's TE crop. He is a big target at 6'6" 250lbs who has great athleticism and even better hands. As the primary target in the pro-style Stanford offense he can also run just about any route asked of him. Andy Reid has to be extremely excited about putting Fleener all over the field creating mismatches everywhere. He'll also immediately fill the forever vacant role in the Eagles offense of red zone target.

Round 2 Pick 15 (47): New York Jets select Mitchell Schwartz, OT Cal
Everyone knows the Jets are extremely weak at right tackle, so they address that position in the 2nd round. A 4 year starter at Cal, Schwartz is a better run blocker than pass protector, which is exactly what the Jets want to get back to this season. Being a fellow Jew, Schwartz is naturally intelligent and will be able to pick up the Jets offense right away and will upgrade the running game as a Day 1 starter. - Jim Mut

Round 2 Pick 16 (48): New England Patriots select Lavonte David, OLB, Nebraska
The Patriots select a three-down linebacker that will help get to the quarterback as well as neutralize any attack across the middle. David is an anchor that can stop the pass as good as he can stop the run. He has a knack for getting to the ball, as he has high football intelligence paired with speed and excellent read-and-react skills. In two years at Nebraska (JUCO transfer), David was in on 285 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, three forced fumbles, two interceptions, and ten passes broken up. Do you think the Patriots care that the guy is only six feet tall?  - Jeremy
