According to the latest poll of College Football Coach salaries, it pays to be able to convince 17 year old boys to attend one University over others for the sake of their footballing. These guys make serious boatloads of money. Particularly the SEC Head coaches. Once again Mack Brown and Nick Saban lead the way but it seems like these schools are beginning to realize the value that a top Football program can bring to the University so College Presidents are trying to woo top coaches for higher pay.
It is a little surprising to see some of the coaches up near the top, like Iowa's Kirk Ferentz is #5 on the list bringing in almost $3.8m. Newly DWI'd Gary Pinkel is #16 on the list cashing his checks to the tune of $2.7 last year. While it seems like all the biggest salaries are reserved for coaches in the South East, this clearly does not translate to those leading Sun Belt conference Schools who along with the WAC and the MAC make up nearly all of the lowest salaried positions. That said, it's still a pretty darn good living making over $200k in wherever schools like Eastern Michigan and Western Kentucky are.
So the next time you see a head coach at one of these places get canned I think you'd all be doing humanity a favor by writing letters to that school's president urging them to hire yous truly as Head Football Coach.
