SKOHRboard & Stangs League 2011 NFL Mock Draft: Picks 61-64

It's Day 15 of the SKOHRboard & Stangs League 2011 NFL Mock Draft and it also just happens to be Day 1 of the real NFL Draft.  Let's see what the S&S GMs have in store for the final four selections of Round 2.

We have highly qualified NFL experts who have each been assigned the role of temporary GM for several NFL teams and we will go through the first two rounds selecting the best players for our respective teams.  While you follow along, I'd like to urge you to give us your feedback and please feel free to lobby for your respective team's GM to pick whatever player you feel is best suited to them.

Here are the GMs for each team.

Dikembe Mutombo - Seattle, Carolina, Cleveland, Detroit, San Diego, Atlanta, Green Bay
Justin! - Minnesota, Denver, San Francisco, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, New Orleans
Joel - New York (G), Buffalo, Tennessee, Miami, Kansas City, Chicago, Oakland
Jeremy - Pittsburgh, Houston, Cincinnati, Dallas, Jacksonville, Indianapolis,
SKOHR -  Philadelphia, Arizona, Washington, Baltimore, New England, New York (J)

>>SKOHRboard & Stangs Mock Draft 2011, Chicago Bears
Round 2 Pick #29 (61), Drake Nevis, DT, LSU<<
by Joel

Nevis is a 6-1 300 lbs one gap penetrator who fits in perfectly as an up the field inside rush in the Bears cover 2 system. Nevis was very productive in college leading a very good LSU defense in tackles for loss. The Bears are hoping Nevis can fill the void left by Tommy Harris.

>>SKOHRboard & Stangs Mock Draft 2011, San Diego Chargers
Round 2 Pick #30 (62), Casey Matthews, ILB, Oregon<<
by Dikembe Mutombo

The Chargers have 3 picks in the first 2 rounds, so a move up in any of the rounds would not surprise me. However, assuming they stay, and based on picking Bowers and Hankerson with the previous 2 picks, the Chargers address another need and look for a middle linebacker for the future. Casey Matthews, is famous for being the younger brother of All Pro Clay Matthews. Casey does not have physical talents like Clay, but Casey is intelligent and plays with a motor, gives 100% on every play, and is still very athletic. Analysts question his ability to stay in on 3rd downs in the NFL, and some think he may only be fit for a 3-4 defense, but San Diego likes what they have seen on film and believe in his leadership abilities to anchor their defense

>>SKOHRboard & Stangs Mock Draft 2011, Pittsburgh Steelers
Round 2 Pick #31 (63), Marcus Cannon, OT, TCU<<
by Jeremy

There are a few things you can truly count on in life, but one of them is that the Steelers will be in desperate need for help on the offensive line. Rather than manufacturing steel, the war room for the Steelers ended up striking gold last year when they took Maurkice Pouncey. While the Steelers got production out of Flozell Adams, Max Starks, and Willie Colon last year, they need to be serious about protecting Big Ben, who gets hit more often than a tetherball. Sorry, that's the best analogy I could come up with... But seriously, the offensive line in Pittsburgh is always hurting somewhere and this guy can be the long-term answer at right tackle once Adams finally breaks down for good. Cannon was a four-year starter at TCU and missed only two games in his entire career because of injury. He is absolutely gigantic at 6'5, 358 pounds, was the tops in bench press for all offensive tackles at 33 reps and the broad jump at 105 inches, and he actually made All Mountain West Conference in Track and Field at the shot put to go along with his 3-time MWC conference football honors and third-team All-American recognition.

>>SKOHRboard & Stangs Mock Draft 2011, Green Bay Packers
Round 2 Pick #32 (64), Greg Jones, LB, Michigan State<<
by Dikembe Mutombo

It seems as though the Packers will let Nick Barnett walk away in free agency after he was injured for most of last season and the defense may have improved without him. When I think of Greg Jones, he reminds me of Nick Barnett, in that they were both great linebackers in college that flew to the football and always in on every play, but not physically as gifted as other top 'talent.' Jones is a bit undersized for an ILB at only 6'1, but is intelligent and finds the ball extremely well. His college production will lead to NFL success and Green Bay will flourish with Jones on defense in the next few years.

So far the SKOHRboard & Stangs League 2011 NFL Mock Draft looks like this

#1 Carolina - Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
#2 Denver - Marcel Dareus, DT, Alabama
