Tonight's Sugar Bowl is going to be the Big Ten's last chance at redemption after an awful 2010 bowl season. Terrelle Pryor and four other Buckeyes have been afforded this game despite being suspended for the first five of next season. They were punished for receiving illegal benefits including tattoos for selling some memorabilia. Most of the focus tonight will be placed on Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett and Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor and deservingly so. These two were the top high school QB recruits in their respective years not to mention the fact that Mallet transferred from Ohio State's biggest rival Michigan.
Although Mallett's big arm will be getting most of the attention in the Razorback offense tonight, keep your eyes open for Arkansas' RB Knile Davis, TE D.J. Williams, and OT DeMarcus Love. Unfortunately their top WR, Greg Childs, is going to miss the game after injuring his knee a few weeks back. Those three guys will be a big challenge for Ohio State's highly touted defense even without Childs. The Buckeye defense will feature stars like Cameron Heyward and Ross Homan. Heyward is actually the son of notable NFL star Craig "Ironhead" Heyward and he is also a possible 1st Rd draft pick along with Mallett and Love. The Love and Heyward battle will be a great matchup to watch in which the winner could stand to make millions of dollars more than the loser.
When Ohio State has the ball, Pryor will have plenty of talent around him with RB Dan "Boom" Herron, and WRs Devier Posey and Dane Sanzebacher. The Razorback defense has been tasked with stopping all those talented Buckeyes tonight and they're led by Junior Inside Linebacker Jerry Franklin. While the Razorbacks don't have the defensive star power of the Buckeyes, they have beaten some of the best offenses in the country including Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Mississippi St., and LSU.
This should be a very fun game for even the most casual of fans. If Mallett has a good to great game tonight he could be a top 5 pick in April considering how many teams picking there need a new QB. Although Ohio State is trying to win this game for themselves, there is a lot of reputation on the line in this final bowl match-up between a Big Ten and SEC schools.
