Brett Favre Retires; Finally

Goodbye until you get a TV job and I see you more than ever
Almost immediately after the Divisional round playoff games were over, it was announced that Brett Favre submitted his official retirement papers to the NFL.  This is the second time he's done it, so there is precedence that he'll retract them, but let's face it he looked pretty checked out by the end of this season.  His streak is over, his team doesn't want him, and he got seriously banged up this year.  There is really no reason he could want to come back after an abomination like that.  Although coming back this year did hurt his reputation for those of us living in the now, he is still going to be remembered as one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game.  When you essentially own all the lifetime achievement records in the NFL, there is a nice cozy place reserved for you in the Hall of Fame.

Anyway, if you are really concerned that you'll miss Favre this year you should stop fretting because there is almost a 100% guarantee that he'll be doing some TV.  Between FOX, ESPN, CBS, ABC, and the NFL Network there is no shortage of "analyst" money and air time awaiting Brett's infinite wisdom this Fall.  If you are wondering just how good Brett has been over the course of his billionty year career check out this article I wrote a few weeks back when it was pretty clear that this day would come soon.

Good riddance. Hopefully he stays retired and shuts up for a while so we can painlessly remember that this guy (1) was very good during most of his career, and (2) didn't act like a horse's ass for most of his career. I will be less than thrilled if he joins some NFL analyst team. But would definitely laugh if he showed his d during a TV broadcast.

You know that he's retired for good this time because he's already shilling tons of memorabilia on his personal website

I think a more accurate statement is that he s retired from retiring.
